Why?

I don't understand Sony fanboys. I never have, and I still can't after lots of pondering. Their latest act of ridiculousness? Believing Sony's numerous claims that they'll be able to manufacture 1 million PS3's every month as if it were the word of the Lord himself, and constantly reminding us in every message board in every corner of the internet

Now I'm not saying it is impossible, but let us look at the facts here folks. The PS2 launch had incredible shortages. The Xbox 360 just launched to shortages due to manufacturing issues - and the PS3 is even more complex in its design, featuring two brand spanking new technologies (blu-ray and the Cell chip). Furthermore, Sony is absolutely notorious for their fluff, hype and outright bullshit.

Fortunately, a large part of the gaming press is actually realizing these things for a change, and thus are becoming skeptical of any Sony-made claims until they can prove it. Yet the consumers themselves still seem to eat up everything fed to them while selectively forgetting things like the Sony rootkit fiasco, the inevitable blu-ray DRM and the bullshit that was the Emotion Engine.

Is it blind hope, or just loyalty gone too far? If I had to choose, I'd take Nintendo fanboys over these guys any day. At least those guys are content.
